Mark Wahlberg House: From His $55M Beverly Park Estate to Las Vegas

In this article

Mark Wahlberg spent nearly a decade in one of the largest private houses in Los Angeles, then left California entirely. The Beverly Park compound he built ran to 30,500 square feet with twelve bedrooms, twenty bathrooms, a tennis court, a five-hole golf course and a skate park. He listed it at $87.5 million in 2022 and sold it in February 2023 for $55 million.

Since then he has lived in Las Vegas, and his property record there is more interesting than a simple relocation story. He bought two homes and a building plot in the Summit Club in Summerlin, planned a custom house of nearly 38,000 square feet on the plot, and then abandoned that plan and sold the land.

He now lives in a house of about 8,400 square feet, roughly a quarter the size of the one he left. This guide sets out every documented transaction and what it adds up to.

Who is Mark Wahlberg?

Mark Wahlberg is an American actor and producer, born in Boston in 1971, who began his career as a musician before moving into film. His acting credits include Boogie Nights, The Departed, The Fighter, Ted and Lone Survivor, and he has built a substantial production and business career alongside it, including restaurant and consumer ventures.

He is married to Rhea Durham and they have four children. That detail matters here, because the children are the reason he has given publicly for the move out of California, and the timing of his property transactions tracks their schooling rather than his filming.

The Beverly Park compound

Wahlberg and Durham bought a 6.2-acre site in Beverly Park, a guard-gated enclave in the hills near Mulholland Drive, for $8.25 million in 2009. They built on it in 2014, to a design by the architect Richard Landry, whose practice is responsible for a large share of the château-style estates in that part of Los Angeles.

The finished compound totalled about 30,500 square feet across a main house, a guest house, a poolside cabana and a viewing pavilion, with twelve bedrooms and twenty bathrooms. The grounds included a full-size tennis court, a five-hole golf course and a skate park, along with a cinema, a mirrored gym and a wine and cigar cellar with its own tasting lounge.

He listed it in April 2022 at $87.5 million, reduced it to $79.5 million that November, and sold it in February 2023 for $55 million in an all-cash deal. That is $32.5 million below the original ask, and it was still the most expensive residential sale in Southern California to that point in the year. Beverly Park has a small number of properties at this scale, and they change hands rarely, as the coverage of Martin Lawrence’s estate in the same enclave shows.

What happened to the house afterwards

The estate did not stay quiet. In 2025 it sold again, for $63.1 million, to Paris Hilton and her husband Carter Reum, after the couple lost their Malibu home in the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.

That is an $8.1 million increase over what Wahlberg received roughly two years earlier, which is a reminder that the $55 million he accepted was a genuine discount rather than the property’s ceiling. Selling at speed, in a slow market for houses at that price, costs money even when the house is exceptional.

The move to Las Vegas

Wahlberg relocated to Las Vegas in 2022, before the Los Angeles house sold. He has been consistent in interviews that the move was about his children, wanting somewhere quieter with room for them to play sport, rather than about tax, although Nevada’s lack of state income tax is a fact of the arrangement whatever the motivation. He has also pushed publicly to develop Las Vegas as a film production centre.

He bought into the Summit Club, a private community within Summerlin on the western edge of the city, with round-the-clock security, a golf course and its own recreation facilities. In August 2022 he made two purchases there at once: a two-storey townhouse of 7,327 square feet for $14.5 million, and 2.5 acres of adjacent vacant land for $15.6 million. Both were bought through trusts with Wahlberg as trustee, which is his consistent practice.

He sold the townhouse on 22 September 2023 for $16.65 million, and in the same year bought a single-family house in the same community, of more than 8,400 square feet, for over $21 million.

The house he planned and never built

The 2.5-acre plot was meant to become something considerably larger. Clark County records show Wahlberg pursued custom home construction on the site, with a contract valuation of $25 million and a projected floor area of 37,694 square feet, which would have been comparable in scale to the Beverly Park compound he had just sold.

It did not happen. No building permits were issued. In October 2024 he requested an extension to his timeline, citing the need to finalise and secure construction financing. On 31 December 2024 he sold the land instead, for $17.25 million, to an entity called Summit PS LLC whose owner the Las Vegas Review-Journal was unable to identify. Against the $15.6 million he paid in 2022, that is a gain of about $1.65 million before costs.

The decision is the most revealing thing in his recent property record. He had the site, the design intent and the budget for a house nearly five times the size of the one he lives in, and he chose not to build it.

Where does Mark Wahlberg live now?

Las Vegas, Nevada, in the Summit Club community in Summerlin, in the house of just over 8,400 square feet he bought in 2023 for more than $21 million.

The evidence is consistent. That purchase is on record and no sale of it has been reported, unlike the townhouse and the land, both of which he sold and both of which were reported when he did. He no longer owns property in Los Angeles, having sold the Beverly Park estate outright in 2023. He has spoken publicly about the family being happy since leaving California, and his stated business ambitions are tied to Nevada.

The most striking part of the answer is the scale. He moved from 30,500 square feet on 6.2 acres to roughly 8,400 square feet inside a golf community, and then walked away from the opportunity to rebuild at the old scale. Whatever the reasoning, the pattern in the record is a deliberate reduction rather than a lateral move.
