Ozzy Osbourne’s House: The $17M LA Estate, Welders House and the MTV Home

In this article

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s Los Angeles house has been on the market since April 2026 at $17 million, nine months after the Black Sabbath frontman died at 76. By the end of July, with no buyer, they were also offering it for rent.

That house is only part of the story. The family’s most famous address was a Beverly Hills mansion that millions of people watched every week on MTV. And the place Ozzy went back to at the end of his life, where he is now buried, is a Victorian country house in Buckinghamshire that the couple bought more than thirty years ago. Add a cottage from his Black Sabbath years, and that makes four documented homes.

Here is each of them.

The Beverly Hills house from The Osbournes

The Osbournes moved into a gated Mediterranean-style house in Beverly Hills in March 2002, the same month The Osbournes premiered on MTV. With six bedrooms and nine bathrooms, it was the backdrop to the whole show: the kitchen arguments, the dogs, the chaos. For a few years it was probably the most recognisable celebrity home in America.

They sold it in 2007 to Christina Aguilera for a reported $11.5 million. She lived there for about four years and, after a long stretch on the market, sold it in 2013 to a buyer who has never been publicly named. Some house-tour sites describe the family as having rented it, but the sale to Aguilera shows they owned it.

The family never really let it go. In March 2026, Kelly Osbourne said they had asked “about ten times” to buy it back and had been turned down every time by its current owners.

Inside the Hancock Park estate

Hancock Park is one of the oldest and wealthiest neighbourhoods in Los Angeles, about five miles from downtown and full of houses from the 1920s. The Osbournes bought theirs in 2015 for $11.85 million from the film producer Oren Koules, one of the producers behind the Saw franchise.

The house was designed in 1929 by the architect A.K. Kellogg in the Mediterranean Revival style. The current listing gives around 11,500 square feet, including a self-contained guest apartment above the garage, with seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms on a little over half an acre. The listing photographs are the closest thing to a tour. The rooms that stand out:

  • A screening room with a bar and a fireplace covered in the signatures of famous guests, among them Elvis Presley, Natalie Wood and Mel Tormé. The tradition was started by a previous owner, the radio host Frank Bresee, and the Osbournes kept it going.
  • A chef’s kitchen with a breakfast room. Sharon pushed for a second kitchen renovation after deciding an earlier one felt too modern for a 1920s house.
  • A wood-panelled library, alongside formal living and dining rooms and a home office.
  • A swimming pool finished in hand-laid mosaic tile, which the Osbournes replaced during their renovation.
  • Outdoor living space with a pizza oven, a barbecue and an imported European fireplace under the loggia.

Two listings, and now a rent cut

This is not the first time the house has been for sale. The couple listed it in July 2022 at $18 million, cut the price to $17.5 million, and then withdrew it. At the time, they were planning a permanent move to England, and Ozzy was blunt about why: “We are leaving LA. We are a bit sad. But the tax is getting too much.” They changed their minds and stayed in California.

Sharon relisted it in April 2026 at $17 million with Jonah Wilson and Josh Greer of Carolwood Estates. Greer put the price in context: the most expensive sale on record in Hancock Park, he said, was a $23 million deal the previous year, which puts the Osbourne estate near the top of the neighbourhood.

The summer did not bring a buyer. From late June, the house was also offered for rent at $65,000 a month, cut to $55,000 on 31 July 2026, with a $195,000 security deposit and viewings only for pre-qualified clients. As of mid-August, it was still for sale at $17 million alongside the rental listing.

Welders House, the Buckinghamshire estate

Ozzy grew up in Aston, Birmingham, and always said he wanted to go back to England at the end of his life. The house he went back to was Welders House, near the village of Jordans in Buckinghamshire, which he and Sharon bought in 1993.

It was not his first English country home. In the 1970s, during the Black Sabbath years, he lived with his first wife, Thelma, at Bulrush Cottage in Ranton, Staffordshire, the setting for some of the wilder stories of that era.

It has more history than most rock-star estates. The red-brick house, with Dutch-style gables, was built in 1898–99 by the architect Mervyn Macartney for the politician Charles Thomson Ritchie. From 1910 to 1947 it belonged to St Luke’s Hospital and served at different times as a convalescent home and a nursing home. In the 1980s it was owned by the special-effects director John Stears, and it has been Grade II listed since 1984. The Osbournes added a tennis court, a gym, a second driveway and formal gardens with a rose garden and a replica of the Bethesda Fountain.

As Ozzy’s health declined, the house was adapted around him. In January 2020 he revealed that he had Parkinson’s disease, diagnosed after a bad fall the year before. In March 2022, the couple applied to Buckinghamshire Council for:

  • a rehabilitation wing with grab rails, ramps and plenty of places to stop and sit
  • a nurse’s flat for round-the-clock care
  • a pool-house orangery and a health and welfare exercise studio
  • a garden art room with a north-facing glazed roof
  • a new lake in the grounds

That same spring, Sharon said they planned to take in two Ukrainian refugee families on the estate.

Where Ozzy is buried

Ozzy’s last performance was Back to the Beginning at Villa Park in Birmingham on 5 July 2025. He sang a short solo set from a black throne, then rejoined Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for a final Black Sabbath set. “You have no idea how I feel,” he told the crowd. Seventeen days later, on 22 July, he died at Welder’s House. His death certificate gave a heart attack as the cause, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease listed as underlying conditions.

On 30 July, his hearse travelled down Broad Street in Birmingham, past the Black Sabbath bench on the canal bridge, while thousands of fans lined the route. The private funeral followed the next day, and he was buried in the grounds of Welders House, near the lake. Around 110 family and friends attended, including his Black Sabbath bandmates and musicians such as Zakk Wylde, Robert Trujillo, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and Corey Taylor.

Where Sharon Osbourne lives now

Sharon has called Welders House her “little piece of heaven”, and it is the home she has kept. But her children, Aimee, Jack and Kelly, and her five grandchildren all live in Los Angeles, and she now splits her time between the two countries, spending at least half the year on the West Coast. A source quoted by The Sun expected her to be living mostly in the US again within a couple of years. That would mean long stretches away from the house where her husband is buried.

Who controls the houses is partly a legal question now. The $220 million often quoted as Ozzy’s fortune is a net-worth-site estimate; The Sun reported his estate at around £100 million, with four executors: Sharon, her niece Georgina Maszlin, an assistant, Melinda Varga, and his long-time accountant Colin Newman. In September 2026, Sharon filed a High Court claim to have Newman removed. The terms of the will have not been published, so the stories circulating about which of the children inherits which house have nothing behind them.

Taken together, Ozzy Osbourne’s house history traces the arc of his fame: a reality-TV mansion the family still wants back, a Los Angeles estate now waiting for a buyer, and an English country house that became his final home.
