Donnie Wahlberg House: The St. Charles Home He’s Selling for $2.8 Million

In this article

For the past decade, Donnie Wahlberg’s home has been in St. Charles, Illinois, a river town about forty miles west of Chicago, and the interesting thing about it was always where it was not. For fourteen years he starred in Blue Bloods, a series filmed in New York City. Rather than live near the set, he and his wife, Jenny McCarthy, bought in the Midwest, and he commuted to work instead.

That chapter is now closing. On 24 September 2026, the house went on the market at $2,799,000, and McCarthy has said the couple is heading to Las Vegas. They paid $1.1 million for it in 2015.

This guide covers the house, why they chose that town, what the listing shows, and where he is going next.

Who is Donnie Wahlberg?

Donnie Wahlberg is an American singer and actor from Dorchester, Boston. He was a founding member of New Kids on the Block, the group that made him famous in the late 1980s and which continues to perform, and he built a substantial second career as an actor, most prominently as Danny Reagan in CBS’s Blue Bloods, which ran from 2010 until December 2024.

He has continued in the role in Boston Blue, a spin-off that premiered in October 2025 and follows the same character after a move from the NYPD to the Boston police. Its second season premieres on CBS on 9 October 2026. He is one of nine Wahlberg siblings; his younger brother Mark Wahlberg’s property history is covered separately on this site.

He married the television personality Jenny McCarthy on 31 August 2014 at the Hotel Baker in St. Charles, and they renewed their vows there for their tenth anniversary in 2024. The house followed the wedding by a matter of months.

Why St. Charles

The choice of town was not random. St. Charles is where the couple married, and it is in the Chicago area, which is McCarthy’s home region. Local coverage reported that the move was about establishing a permanent base for a blended household that included three children from previous marriages: his sons, Xavier and Elijah, from his marriage to Kimberly Fey, and her son, Evan.

Before that, they had been living outside New York City, because that is where Blue Bloods was filmed. Buying in Illinois meant Wahlberg would be commuting to New York for work for the next decade rather than living near the set. That is a significant and deliberate inconvenience, and it is the clearest evidence available that the house was chosen for family reasons rather than professional ones.

The house itself is in the Fox Glen area on the town’s west side, between Randall Road and the Fox River. Chicago’s western suburbs are a long way, in every sense, from the neighbourhoods most network leads buy into. The city and its surroundings have kept a number of public figures who could easily have relocated, among them Derrick Rose.

What the house actually is

The property is a brick, Tudor-style house built in 1996 on a wooded lot of about 1.26 acres. The 2026 listing gives it four bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, and 7,236 square feet. Earlier magazine coverage called it a five-bedroom home, a difference that more likely reflects how the rooms are used and counted than any change to the building.

The grounds carry most of the interest. There is a putting green, a pool with a grotto, a waterfall and a slide, a spa, and a walking trail the couple created through part of the land. The pool in particular was designed around children rather than around photographs, which is unusual at this level.

Inside, a decade of work shows. The listing adds a home theatre, a bar, a gym, a sauna, a cold plunge and six fireplaces, and some of the details are unmistakably personal: the designer John Wolf, of Wolf Home Design, fitted door handles shaped as a “D” and a “J”, and there is a poker table bearing their initials. One of the better-documented projects was a bedroom redesign that McCarthy arranged as a surprise for Wahlberg in January 2023. A house reworked room by room over ten years is a home rather than an asset being held, which is what decides to sell it.

The 2026 listing

The house came to market on 24 September 2026 at $2,799,000, listed with eXp Realty. Against the $1.1 million they paid in 2015, that asking price is roughly two and a half times the purchase price.

Two cautions apply to that comparison. An asking price is not a sale price, and nothing has sold yet. And the couple have spent eleven years renovating, at a cost that has never been disclosed. Even if the house sells close to its asking price, the real gain will be smaller than the gap between the two headline numbers suggests.

Where does Donnie Wahlberg live now?

For the moment, St. Charles. But the couple say they are moving to Las Vegas.

McCarthy answered the question herself on Instagram after the listing appeared, writing that they were going to Vegas and not to California. The California rumour had a real source: in late 2025 Wahlberg said that the only thing likely to bring him back to the state was his two sons. Las Vegas has the stronger practical logic. New Kids on the Block have held a residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM since June 2025, and it has been extended with dates running into October 2026. No purchase in Nevada has been reported, and this article will not guess at one.

His acting work does not settle the question either way. Blue Bloods ended in December 2024, removing the New York commute. Boston Blue films mainly in Toronto, with some shooting in Boston, and Deadline reported that he had offered to give up half his fee to have the show made in Boston itself. That tells you something about his attachment to that city but nothing about where he lives, since filming on location for months at a time is not the same as relocating.

There is also no reliable reporting of any other property in his name in Boston, New York, Toronto, or anywhere else. For someone who spent fourteen years on one of American television’s most-watched dramas and has toured arenas since the 1980s, that is a notably small documented footprint: one family house, bought in his wife’s home region and improved for a decade before being sold. His brother’s very different approach, moving house to follow the money and the tax position, is covered in the account of Mark Wahlberg’s properties.
