Joyce Giraud House: The Beverly Hills Home Bravo Toured and the Unverified $8M Boca Claim

By Daniel Harper

In this article

The only home of Joyce Giraud that has been shown in any detail is the Beverly Hills-area house she shared with her husband, producer Michael Ohoven, during her one season on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2013-2014. Bravo published a photo tour of it, with a gold-trimmed dining room, stained-glass windows, a library and a backyard set up for two small boys. No purchase price, sale record or square footage for that house has been reported.

A second claim circulates online: that the couple bought an $8 million house in Boca Raton, Florida, in late 2021. For anyone searching the Joyce Giraud house in Florida, that figure traces back to a single celebrity map page, not to a news report or a property record, so it should be treated as unconfirmed.

The Joyce Giraud House Bravo Toured in 2013

When Joyce joined the Season 4 cast in the fall of 2013, Bravo ran a 25-photo gallery of the Ohovens’ home plus a separate set on her closet. The gallery gives no address, but its captions place the house in Beverly Hills, joking about “those Beverly Hills nights” and “a long day in Beverly Hills.”

The decor leaned formal and old-world rather than the white modern style common on the show:

  • Entry: a golden lion door knocker and a large chandelier over the foyer.
  • Dining room: gold-trimmed walls, gold chairs, a shimmering chandelier and stained-glass windows, which Bravo compared to The Great Gatsby.
  • Living areas: a fireplace lounge used for watching TV, and a formal living room with maroon drapes, dark mahogany wood and plants.
  • Kitchen: exposed wooden ceiling beams and another stained-glass window.
  • Other rooms: a library lined with bookshelves, a window seat, a display of memorabilia and a jacuzzi.
  • Backyard: open lawn and play equipment for the kids, plus a separate lounge area with chairs in sun and shade.

The closet tour showed rows of neatly arranged shoes and accessories, from neutral everyday pairs to reptile-skin stilettos, with stained-glass accents carried over from the rest of the house. The couple married in 2009 and had two sons, born in 2010 and 2011, which explains the play setup out back.

Bravo’s gallery is undated on the page, and nothing published since says whether the family still owns or rents that house. Joyce left the show after the Season 4 reunion in 2014, so there has been no televised update.

The $8 Million Boca Raton Claim

Unconfirmed figure

The “$8M in late 2021” Boca Raton purchase comes from one celebrity map page that says it is not affiliated with the people or the property. No real estate outlet has reported it.

The page lists Joyce and Michael as owners of a Boca Raton house and says they paid $8 million for it in late 2021. The same page sits under a URL naming a different person, and it gives no listing details, seller name or sale documentation.

It is possible the family did move east; Joyce lived in Miami before heading to Los Angeles early in her career. But until a deed record or a news report backs it up, the $8 million number is a claim, not a confirmed purchase price.

Growing Up in the Hills of Aguas Buenas

Before the pageant titles, Joyce Marie Giraud Mojica was born on April 4, 1975, in Aguas Buenas, a small mountain town in Puerto Rico. She told Bravo in 2013 that she grew up on a mountainside, milking cows and keeping chickens, roosters and several dogs, and that her family was poor.

She went on to win Miss Universe Puerto Rico and finish as runner-up at Miss Universe 1998. In the same interview she said her mother ships Puerto Rican food to her in California, and Joyce has said she works with UNESCO on building kindergartens, a cause she links to that rural childhood.
