Laetitia Casta House: The 15th-Century Corsican Manor Tied to Her Great-Grandmother

By Daniel Harper

In this article

Laetitia Casta has never put a house on the market in a way the property press could track, and no purchase price for any of her homes has been reported. The home that does appear in reporting is a manor house in Lumio, a hill village in Corsica’s Balagne region with about 1,200 residents, where her father’s family comes from. Paris Match describes the house as dating from the 15th century, and says she went there in summer 2025 after her separation from Louis Garrel.

Away from Corsica, she has long been described as Paris-based, and in 2000 she kept a flat in London. Below is what the sources actually support, and where the record stops.

The only home of hers described in detail by the press, according to Paris Match (August 2025).

The Laetitia Casta House in Lumio: A 15th-Century Manor

Paris Match calls the property a maison de maître, a large manor house, set in the hills. It has stood for roughly 500 years. The family connection is specific: according to the magazine, an Italian-born housekeeper named Zelinda lived in the house several decades ago, and Zelinda was the actress’s great-grandmother. Casta first told that story to Paris Match in 2015.

What the reporting does not settle is ownership. Paris Match says she “set her sights” on the manor and made her attachment to it known to the former owners, which suggests she now holds it, but no deed, price or transfer date has been published. Some smaller sites describe it as an inheritance; that claim does not appear in the more reliable coverage, so treat it as unconfirmed.

Why Lumio Matters to Her

Casta was born on 11 May 1978 in Pont-Audemer, Normandy, to a Norman mother and a Corsican father, and spent her childhood between the two regions. Family holidays brought her to Lumio, and it was there, at 15, that she won a village beauty contest her brother had entered her in without telling her. A photographer spotted her that summer, and by 1993 she was modeling for Guess.

The village stayed central to her adult life. Corse Net Infos, citing the magazine Voici, reported that she and Louis Garrel married in Lumio in June 2017, with an evening party for invited guests at Matahari beach that ran late into the night.

The London Flat and the Marianne Row

In 1999, French mayors voted Casta the new model for the bust of Marianne, the national symbol. In April 2000, British and French newspapers reported that she had moved to London, where top earners paid less tax, which turned the honor into a controversy. Her father said the move was for work, and she said on television that she had rented a flat in London to be near her boyfriend.

Her own account shifted slightly. In an October 2001 interview with HELLO!, she said she had bought a flat in Covent Garden because she could go shopping there without being bothered. So the record contains both “rented” and “bought”, and no size, price or later sale has been reported.

Where Does Laetitia Live Now?

Paris remains her working base; HELLO! described her as Paris-based as early as 2004, and Paris Match framed her 2025 trip to Corsica as an escape from the city. No Paris apartment, neighborhood or purchase has been documented by reputable outlets, and this article will not guess at one.

As of the latest reports, Corsica is where she retreats when she wants privacy, and the Lumio manor is the one home of hers with a documented history.
