Madelyn Cline House: Her LA Life, the Goose Creek Family Home and the Mansions That Aren’t Hers

By Daniel Harper

In this article

Madelyn Cline lives in Los Angeles, the city she drove to from South Carolina at 19, and her family home is still in Goose Creek, a town just outside Charleston. What she does not have, as of the latest reports, is a documented property purchase. No major real estate outlet has reported her buying, listing or selling a house, so any price you see attached to her name online should be treated with suspicion.

The houses people tend to picture when they search for her are on screen: the Cameron family’s Tannyhill estate in Netflix’s Outer Banks, and the Hollywood Hills mansion she “robbed” in Sabrina Carpenter’s 2026 music video. Neither belongs to her.

Madelyn Cline House: What Is Actually on Record

Interviews, not property records, are the only reliable guide to where the actress lives. A 2023 Airmail profile described Los Angeles as her home for the previous six years, which puts her arrival around 2017. In an August 2025 PAPER interview she said her friends there have “made LA feel like home.”

Neither piece names a neighbourhood, describes a house or mentions whether she rents or owns. That silence matters, because the claim that dominates search results says otherwise.

The “luxury LA home bought in 2021” claim

Several net-worth and biography sites repeat, word for word, that she owns a luxurious Los Angeles home bought in 2021. None gives a price, a neighbourhood or a source, and no major outlet has reported such a purchase. It reads as recycled filler, not a property record.

The Drive West From South Carolina

Her move to California was a road trip. According to Airmail, she packed most of her belongings into a white 2007 Toyota 4Runner she called “Dory” and drove 2,474 miles to Los Angeles. The List reported that she left college right before midterms and moved the same week, a decision her parents struggled with at first.

The car situation has changed since. In the PAPER interview she said she gets around LA in an old Jeep that “dies all the time,” and that she eventually had her “real car shipped out” after one too many late arrivals to work.

Goose Creek: The Family Home

Cline grew up as a homeschooled only child in Goose Creek, a suburb in the Charleston area, and her parents still live in the region. The List placed them in Charleston when she was cast in Outer Banks, which is why she described being called in to meet producers in “Charleston, South Carolina, of all places.”

She still goes back. When PAPER reached her in August 2025, she was on a weekend off: “I’m home in Goose Creek, South Carolina right now in my backyard,” she said, with her mom, dad and dog around her. She was visiting, not moving back.

Tannyhill: The Screen Mansion Fans Mix Up With Hers

Sarah Cameron’s family home in Outer Banks, the fictional Tannyhill Plantation on Figure Eight, is a real place. Netflix’s filming guide identifies it as Lowndes Grove, a 14-acre estate on the Ashley River in Charleston built in 1786 and now used for weddings and events. What’s on Netflix lists it as the Cameron estate for seasons one to three.

That makes Lowndes Grove the closest thing to a “Madelyn Cline house” most fans have seen: a Charleston-area estate near where she grew up, but one she only ever lived in as a character.

The “House Tour” Mansion Is a Set, Not Her Home

The other house tied to her name comes from Sabrina Carpenter’s “House Tour” video, released in April 2026, in which Carpenter, Margaret Qualley and Cline break into a mid-century Los Angeles mansion. Speaking on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast, Cline said the shoot took two full days at a large home in the Hollywood Hills, all of it shot on film. The owner of that house has not been named, and nothing suggests it is connected to her.
