Vanessa Minnillo House: The Tarzana Estate She Bought Twice and the Homes Before It

Vanessa Minnillo, known as Vanessa Lachey since her 2011 marriage to 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey, has spent most of the past 15 years in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, with a stop on Oahu while she starred in CBS’s NCIS: Hawai’i. The family’s most recent home on record is a Tarzana estate they owned twice: bought in 2020, sold to tennis star Naomi Osaka in 2022, then bought back for $7.95 million in August 2025.

That second stint was short. As of the latest reports in fall 2026, the Vanessa Minnillo house in Tarzana is back on the market at $8.195 million with Mauricio Umansky of The Agency, and the brokerage says the couple and their three children are leaving California. Where they are headed has not been made public.

What the Lacheys paid to reclaim the Tarzana house they had sold to Naomi Osaka three years earlier.

The Tarzana Estate the Lacheys Bought Twice

The couple first bought the house in December 2020 from former NFL wide receiver Randall Cobb. Reports put that price at about $5 million: Celebrity Net Worth cites $4.8 million, Complex says “just over $5 million” and Martin Cid Magazine $5.1 million.

In February 2022, with the family by then based in Hawaii for filming, they sold it off-market to Naomi Osaka for about $6.26 million. Osaka listed it in June 2025 at $8.3 million, and the Lacheys came back as buyers, paying $7.95 million, roughly $1.7 million more than Osaka had paid. Mauricio Umansky and Craig Knizek of The Agency represented them; Amy Snider of Compass represented Osaka, according to Complex.

Built in 2014 in an East Coast traditional style, the two-story house sits on a cul-de-sac lot of more than half an acre with views across the San Fernando Valley. Inside are dark hardwood floors, a kitchen with two islands, a coffered family room, a primary suite with its own fireplace and balcony, a media lounge, a game room with a wet bar, a movie theater and a wine cellar. Outside there is a pool and spa, a covered loggia, a fire pit, a sunken, lighted basketball court and a pickleball court.

Osaka added one thing the Lacheys did not have the first time: a separate building of about 800 square feet with a gym and recovery suite, which Realtor.com reported includes a sauna, a cold plunge and a steam room.

Reports differ on the size: Complex gave about 7,000 square feet in 2025, while the 2026 listing coverage gives 6,855 square feet on a lot of nearly 30,000 square feet.

The Oahu Home During NCIS: Hawai’i

Vanessa landed the lead role of Special Agent Jane Tennant on NCIS: Hawai’i, and the family relocated to Oahu. In May 2022, after the show’s first season wrapped, they bought a Honolulu house near Kahala Beach for $8.795 million, Celebrity Net Worth and Complex reported. Coverage describes it as a 7,732-square-foot home built in 2017, about a block from the beach.

CBS canceled the series in April 2024 after three seasons. The Lacheys listed the house in June 2024 at $9.75 million and accepted $9.45 million about a month later, a sale price roughly $650,000 above what they had paid.

Do the Lacheys still live in Hawaii?

No. Some celebrity-home pages still suggest the family lives on Oahu, but the Honolulu house sold in summer 2024, and the family bought in Encino that same July.

The Modern Encino House (2024-2025)

Back in Los Angeles, the couple paid $6.795 million in July 2024 for a newly built modern house in Encino, according to Celebrity Net Worth (TMZ rounded it to $6.7 million). It has roughly 8,300 square feet over three levels on 1.5 acres at the end of a cul-de-sac, with six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a guest house, a pool, a basketball court and a basement bar and media lounge. Less than a year later, in June 2025, they listed it at $7.4 million, and Complex later reported a $7.5 million asking price. That listing came just before they bought back the Tarzana house. None of the sources we reviewed confirm a final sale price, so the outcome is unclear.

The neighborhood has drawn other names too: singer Meghan Trainor bought a $17.1 million Encino mansion, and YouTuber James Charles owns a $7 million Encino home.

Vanessa Minnillo House History Before 2020

Most of the couple’s earlier real estate is also in the Valley. Nick’s Calabasas house, the one seen on MTV’s Newlyweds with Jessica Simpson, was bought in 2002 for $1.685 million and sold in 2009 for $3.495 million, before Vanessa and Nick married.

In 2011, the year of the wedding, the couple bought an Encino house for $2.85 million and sold it for about $4 million in June 2016. Days later they paid $4.15 million for a French Normandy-style Encino estate of nearly 10,000 square feet that had belonged to Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera, who bought it in 2009 for $3.3 million and died in a 2012 plane crash. It sat on about four acres with seven bedrooms, ten bathrooms, a great room with 18-foot ceilings, a waterfall pool and a private hiking trail, and the Lacheys sent Rivera’s family a thank-you letter after the purchase, Fox News reported, citing TMZ. They listed it at $7 million in October 2019 and accepted a $6.6 million offer in December 2020, the same month they bought in Tarzana.
